Bio
Valerie Kern, originally from the Central Coast of California, has been an athlete since childhood, where she regularly played soccer, tennis, water polo, and swimming. She began practicing Yoga in 2010 in Bellingham, Washington while attending Western Washington University. She continued her personal practice during her four years in the U.S. Air Force and would occasionally lead Yoga classes for her fellow servicemembers. In 2016, she completed her RYT200 teacher training in Raleigh, North Carolina through the Yoga Legacy teacher training program, where she received specialty certificates in Detox Yoga and Yoga Modifications. She moved to Anchorage shortly after and began volunteering as a Yoga Instructor at the Highland Women's prison. She also started practicing weekly Acroyoga beginning in 2020. Valerie was one of the featured instructors at AK Yoga Fest in 2022. She believes Yoga is one of the best tools people can use to find consistent growth in their mental and physical health and loves how it can be adapted to any individual or body type. She is especially interested in exploring trauma-informed Yoga and Kids Yoga. Outside of her Yoga practice, Valerie enjoys spending time in Alaska's great outdoors doing backcountry skiing, hiking, and backpacking. She also loves traveling and has visited 26 countries so far. She is excited to continue her Yoga journey with each of you at Her Fusion Fitness!
